AAI Consultant Recruitment 2026 Overview
The Airports Authority of India (AAI), a Government of India Public Sector Enterprise constituted by an Act of Parliament, has released Advertisement No. 14/2026/CHQ/SSCOs for the engagement of Retired Short Service Commission Officers (SSCOs) of the Indian Armed Forces as Consultants on contract basis. Moreover, the engagement is being made for a period of one (01) year to provide support to the Air Traffic Services Unit at Joint User Defence Airfields across the country.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Educational Qualification: Graduate in any discipline from a recognised university.
- Professional Qualification: Basic ATC Course / ATM and AL (Basic) and GCA/ATSS Course.
- Services: Retired Short Service Commission Officers of Indian Army / Indian Navy / Indian Air Force / Indian Coast Guard.
Required Experience
The candidate should have undertaken ATC duties for a minimum of 05 years (Cumulative) with at least one year of ATC duties at a Joint User Defence Airfield.
Maximum Age Limit
The applicant should not be more than 50 years of age as on the last date for submission of application i.e. 01.10.2026. Additionally, the period between the date of retirement from the Indian Army / Indian Navy / Indian Air Force / Indian Coast Guard and the last date for submission of application should not exceed six (06) years.
Monthly Remuneration & Allowances
Monthly Remuneration (All Inclusive)
As per DoPT OM F.No. 3-25/2020-E.IIIA dated 09/12/2020, a fixed monthly amount shall be admissible, arrived at by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement. The amount of remuneration so fixed shall remain unchanged for the term of the contract. There will be no annual increment / percentage increase during the contract period.
AAI Consultant Recruitment 2026 Allowances
- HRA: House Rent Allowance is NOT admissible (Para 7.1 of the DoPT OM).
- Transport Allowance: An appropriate and fixed amount for the purpose of commuting between the residence and the place of work shall be allowed, not exceeding the rate applicable to the appointee at the time of retirement (Para 7.2).
- TA/DA on Official Tour: Retired employees engaged as consultants may be allowed TA/DA on official tour, if any, as per their entitlement at the time of retirement.
- Tax: TDS will be deducted at source from the consultancy remuneration.
Travel, Medical Clearance & Service Incurred Risks
AAI may require the consultant to submit a Medical Fitness Certificate from a recognised physician equivalent to the medical standards of defence, duly certified by the ATS In-charge of the joint user Defence Airfields where the consultant is likely to be deployed, prior to the commencement of the contract. Moreover, in the event of death or injury or illness of the consultant attributable to the performance of services on behalf of AAI, AAI shall not be responsible for any compensation.
Period of Engagement
The initial engagement of the consultant shall be for a period of one (01) year only, which will be extendable by another one year at a time. The total cumulative period shall not exceed Five years. However, the extension in any case cannot be beyond the maximum age of 55 years.
- The engagement of consultants would be on a full-time basis and they would not be permitted to take up any other assignment during the period of engagement.
- A Contract/Agreement should be drawn up between the selected consultant and AAI specifying the terms and conditions of hiring of consultants as applicable.
- Consultants shall mark attendance daily at their place of reporting/engagement.

Charter of Duties
The nature of duties of the consultants shall be to assist and support Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations at the concerned Joint User Defence Airfield. Moreover, the duties may include support in operational functions such as ATC/SMC operations, watch extension and other ATC-related activities, as assigned by the ATS In-charge from time to time.
