Selection Process
Selection Overview
The selection process consists of multiple stages that all candidates must successfully qualify. Moreover, appearance in all stages of selection is compulsory and absence in any stage automatically disqualifies a candidate. Additionally, TSLPRB makes the final selection strictly on relative merit as described below.
Preliminary Written Test (PWT)
All eligible registered candidates must appear for the PWT, which is one paper of three hours duration for 200 marks (200 objective questions) at Intermediate standard. Furthermore, minimum qualifying marks are 30% for OC including EWS, 25% for BCs and 20% for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Home Guards. Specifically, a negative marking of 20% of the question's marks applies when more than one bubble is darkened.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Men must qualify in the 1600 meters Run within 7 minutes 15 seconds (9 minutes 30 seconds for Ex-Servicemen). Moreover, women must qualify in the 800 meters Run within 5 minutes 20 seconds. Additionally, the Run is qualifying for Post Codes 21, 26, 27 and 28, while candidates earn marks for the Run in Post Codes 22, 23 and 25 based on the gradation table. Furthermore, TSLPRB uses normalized Run marks for the final merit list of Post Codes 22 and 25.
Physical Measurements
Additionally, candidates who qualify in the Run must meet the prescribed minimum height standards. Specifically, men must be at least 167.6 cms and women at least 152.5 cms tall. Furthermore, ST & Aboriginal Tribe candidates of Agency Areas (Adilabad, Komarambheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mulugu, Mahabubabad & Warangal) qualify with 160 cms (Men) and 150 cms (Women). Moreover, Long Jump (4 m Men / 2.5 m Women, 3.5 m Ex-Servicemen) and Shot Put (6 m with 7.26 kg Men / 4 kg Women) serve as qualifying events.
Final Written Examination (FWE)
Candidates who qualify in the PET must appear for the FWE, a single paper of three hours duration. Moreover, the exam is of 200 marks for Post Codes 21, 26, 27 and 28, and 100 marks for Post Codes 22, 23 and 25. Additionally, minimum qualifying marks are 40% for OC including EWS, 35% for BCs and 30% for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen. Specifically, the syllabus covers English, Arithmetic, General Science, Indian History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Current Events, Reasoning and contents pertaining to the State of Telangana.
Final Selection & Certificates Verification
For Post Codes 21, 26, 27 and 28, TSLPRB makes the final selection strictly on relative merit based on the Final Written Examination score. Moreover, for Post Codes 22, 23 and 25, merit depends on the aggregate of FWE and normalized PET (Run) marks. Additionally, 95% of vacancies in most posts go to local candidates of the respective District / Commissionerate / Contiguous District Cadre. Finally, TSLPRB calls qualifying candidates for Certificates Verification, where they must produce original documents along with two sets of photocopies, and they then undergo a medical examination.
